Britannic's History

Originally wanted to call the Britannic "GIGANTIC" but after the tragic sinking of the Titanic sat the White Star Line dear to patriotic undertones. Crept the various security installations Britannic came to 50,000 GRT so it was the largest British ship, the pride of the White Star Line. On February 26th 1914, she was launched.

A year later she was to begin passenger service between Southampton and New York, but that should never happen, there was the 1st World War and therefore everything was different than before. The sinking of the Britannic was a second blow to the shipping company with the largest passenger steamer of the White Star Line had not traveled a single paying passenger.

But even more than wreck exudes the Britannic dumb would, unlike the rusty Titanic or the once proud Olympic ended as scrap iron. The Britannic is now ideally converted in the sea off the Greek island of Kea is a dream boat that crashed on an underwater mine. It is the ignominious end of a ship which was once considered the most spectacular in the world.
